The HutMoiry hut is located at 2825 m above sea level in Moiry Valley above Grimentz, Anniviers Valley, Wallis, Switzerland. It is owned by the Swiss Alpine Club, Montreux section. The hut is placed in front of the big impressive ice chute of the Moiry glacier. Ideally placed, for mountaineers, at the foot of some well known glaciers peaks as Grand Cornier, Pigne de la Lé, or Pointes de Mourti at the heart of the Pennine Alps. The hut can be reached in one and half hour walking from the end of Moiry road. The path is steep at some sections, and we recommend the use of good walking gear. A rope can be useful too, specially for children. Snow can cover some part of the trail late in the season, sometimes until the end of July or mid-August. Since summer 2010, a new building and a renovating of the ancient 90 years-old building are at your disposition. A new comfort to discover with 8 small four beds dormitories (extra charge) and a full windowed refectory with glacier view. |
